Embrace NI invites you to participate in this year's Language Fair during Refugee Week. The Language Fair will take place on Friday 19th June from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the Skainos Centre (East Belfast Mission, 239 Newtownards Road).
This event will give those offering ESOL classes, conversation cafes, other foreign language classes, language help, informal friendship groups, etc., an opportunity to showcase their work and learn from and collaborate with others doing similar work. It will give newcomers to our communities a chance to find the resources they need in an informal and friendly environment.
We will have:
Information Tables for any groups providing language help or related services for newcomers. This can be for adults and/or children. Each information table will also have sweets or tray bakes provided by the organisers. Please ensure that these are nut-free.
A ‘Living Library' made up of a very diverse mix of people ranging from newcomers to Belfast natives of various ages and backgrounds. The idea is for people to stand in place of books to tell their stories as attendees pass through the ‘library.'
Embrace NI will provide a Tea/Coffee Station
If you are interested in participating in this event, either by setting up an information table, being a participant in the Living Library, or if you know of anyone who would like to take part in The Living Library, please register by emailing pam.dzunu@irishmethodist.org.
The deadline for registration for information tables is Friday 5th June.
